How to Set Up a Custom Avatar

Getting a custom avatar to show up on here is one of the trickier and less obvious aspects, though it’s easy enough once you know the ‘trick’.

WordPress (as this site is set up using) does not store local avatars.  It uses something called a ‘gravatar’, or globally recognized avatar.  In theory, this means you just have to set up an avatar once for any site you visit using that email, and you will automatically have the same avatar – in theory.  Of course the catch is that they have to use gravatars.

At any rate, to set up your very own gravatar, just go to the gravatar website, follow their directions to plug in your email and a pic, and you’re all set.
